Slowburn
Community Guidelines
Last updated 2026-05-14.
These guidelines apply to anyone using Slowburn. They cover how we treat each other in comments, posts, profiles, and any other space we share. For what is allowed in stories, see the Content Policy.
1. Age requirement
By using Slowburn you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age. Accounts that we believe belong to a minor will be removed without notice. We enforce this strictly. If you suspect an account belongs to someone under 18, please report it through the channels in section 8.
2. Content compliance
All user-generated content, including profile pictures, usernames, public comments, and posts, must comply with the Content Policy and these guidelines. Hateful or bigoted content will be removed and may lead to a ban.
3. Respect for everyone
Treat other users with basic respect. There is zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, or discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
You can disagree with someone, criticize their work, and argue about taste. None of that is harassment. Personal attacks, slurs, threats, and brigading are.
4. Spam and excessive self-promotion
Contribute to conversations rather than to your follower count. Repeatedly posting links to off-platform projects, dropping the same comment across many threads, or signing every post with a promo line counts as spam.
Sharing your own work is welcome. Spamming it is not. The line is roughly: would a reasonable participant in this thread want to see this post.
5. Privacy
Respect other people's privacy. Do not share personal information (real name, address, workplace, phone number, off-platform handles they have not linked themselves) without their consent. Posting that information about another user, or making companions or stories that encode it, is doxxing and will result in immediate action under section 7.
6. Interactions between users
This section covers comments, collaborations, and any other public or semi-public interaction between accounts.
6.1 Comments on a creator's work
Creators may remove any comment on their own content. They may also report comments that violate these guidelines. Please only report comments that actually violate the rules, not comments you disagree with.
6.2 Interpersonal conflict
We do not mediate personal disputes between users. If you are in a conflict with another account, the right tools are mute and block, not a public callout. Slowburn does not litigate who was right; we enforce the guidelines on what was posted on the platform.
6.3 Respecting creator settings
Creators control the settings of their own companions. Pressuring a creator to change their settings, mass-reporting their work because you disagree with a choice, or harassing them over a private decision is not allowed. Creators are not obligated to justify their settings.
7. Serious violations
Some behaviour is severe enough that we will act immediately and without warning. The following list is not exhaustive; it is meant to signal what we treat as an automatic ban.
- Doxxing or other deliberate publication of another user's private information.
- Child exploitation of any kind, including grooming behaviour directed at a user we believe to be a minor.
- Credible threats of violence against an individual or a group.
- Hate-group activity or use of the platform to coordinate hate-motivated harassment.
- Sexual harassment or predatory behaviour directed at another user.
- Sustained stalking across multiple accounts or platforms.
- Fraud or scams that target other users financially.
We will act on credible evidence of these behaviours even when they occur off Slowburn, where doing so is necessary to protect other users here.
8. Reporting
If you encounter content or behaviour that breaks these guidelines, please tell us. The fastest paths are email at saltyraindev@gmail.com or a direct message to staff in our Discord. In-product report buttons are coming.
Public callouts make things worse for everyone, including the reporter. Please let us handle reports through the proper channel.
9. Agreement to terms
Using Slowburn means you agree to our Terms of Service and these guidelines. Not reading the rules is not a defence. If a rule changes in a way that materially affects you, we will surface the change before it takes effect.
11. Wellness
Slowburn companions are AI. They can be vivid, attentive, even comforting. They are not a substitute for the people in your life and they are not a substitute for professional support. If you find that the platform is taking the place of either, take a break.
When a conversation moves toward crisis, see our Mental Wellness page for what we do and where to find help.
