Content Policy

Slowburn is built for long-form roleplay. The platform supports mature themes, morally complex characters, and stories that go to dark places on purpose. That openness is the point.

The categories below are the exception. They are the small set of things we do not host. They do not move with framing, with author intent, or with the cleverness of a workaround. Everything else has room.

These categories are not permitted on Slowburn. They apply to public and private stories, character and persona definitions, roleplay turns, posts, comments, lorebooks, and any user-generated image.

2.1 Sexualization of minors

We do not allow content that depicts underage characters in sexual, erotic, or romantic contexts. No exceptions. Declaring a character to be over 18 does not override visual, behavioural, or narrative indicators of childhood. "Thousand-year-old" framings, aged-down avatars, and chibi sexualization are all covered. For additional safety, we do not allow imagery of any real person under 18, regardless of context.

2.2 Non-consensual acts without fantasy framing

Graphic depictions of sexual violence or non-consensual acts are not allowed when presented as real or aspirational. Fictional non-con and dub-con themes are permitted within clearly framed roleplay and must be tagged accordingly under the Community Guidelines.

2.3 Incest between blood relatives

We do not allow stories that depict sex or romance between blood relatives. Step-relations are subject to our content-warning rules; blood relations are not.

2.4 Animal cruelty and bestiality

Sexual content involving real, non-sapient animals is not permitted. Anthropomorphic and fantasy characters are allowed when they are unambiguously depicted as over 18, with human-level intelligence and the capacity to consent. If a creature in a scene cannot meaningfully consent, it does not belong in that scene.

2.5 Real people and photorealistic depictions

We do not allow characters that use the likeness of a real person, living or recently deceased, as their primary identity. Depictions of actors in their fictional roles are fine when stylized; photorealistic imagery that could be mistaken for a real photograph of a real person is not. Even fully AI-generated images that look like real photographs of real people fall under this rule.

2.6 Glorification of self-harm or suicide

We do not allow stories, scenes, or posts that praise, encourage, or provide instructions for self-harm or suicide. Fictional depictions of grief, despair, or mental-health struggle are allowed. The distinction is between depicting and recommending. See our Mental Wellness page for how we respond when a conversation moves toward crisis.

2.7 Glorification of mass violence or terrorism

We do not allow stories or content that praise or promote mass shootings, terrorism, hate-motivated violence, or other real-world atrocities. Critical or educational engagement with these subjects is allowed when the framing is unambiguous and the content does not double as recruitment material.

2.8 Illegal instructional content

We do not allow content that meaningfully enables real-world harm: step-by-step weapons construction, synthesis of controlled substances, functional malware, or similar. A character mentioning that they know how to do something is fine; a turn that reads as a working guide is not.

2.9 Targeted harassment of real people

Stories, posts, or comments designed to harass a specific real person, in or outside our community, are not allowed. This includes doxxing, sustained vague-posting, and using the platform to coordinate off-platform attacks.

This policy applies to public stories, private stories, character and persona definitions, roleplay turns, posts, comments, lorebooks, profile pictures, and any image uploaded or generated through Slowburn. A private story is not exempt. Private conversations are not for publication, but the same content rules apply.

If you encounter a story, post, or message that you believe violates this policy, please report it. The fastest path is to email saltyraindev@gmail.com with a link or a screenshot. Please tell us which section of this policy you believe is being violated so we can route the report accordingly.

Please do not publicly call out individual users or creators. Reports go to us, not to the timeline.

We apply this policy in good faith. When we remove content, we will tell the creator which section of this policy was at issue. Repeated or severe violations may lead to suspension or termination of the account.

We also run automated review on newly created characters and on generated images. Automated review is fallible. The presence of a piece of content does not mean it has been approved; we may remove it later when a human review catches what the automated pass missed.

If your content was removed and you believe the removal was incorrect, you can appeal by replying to the removal notice or by emailing saltyraindev@gmail.com. We will review the appeal and either restore the content or explain, in concrete terms, why we are upholding the original action.

We may revise this policy as the platform grows, as the law changes, or as we learn from the patterns we see. Material changes will be announced and given a clear effective date. Continued use of Slowburn after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.

We hold the line here so the story can stay open everywhere else.
